Shades of Texas Nursery is owned and operated by Jon Mathews. Jon is a professional grower and landscaper with more than 30 years of experience. Shades of Texas grows, sells, and installs the highest quality trees, shrubs and plants in the Houston, Gulf Coast Area. Jon’s son, Jon Gabriel, grew up in the industry and has worked with his father for as long as he can remember. Jon Gabriel graduated from Texas A & M with a degree in Agricultural Management and is now the General Manager of both the North and South garden center locations.

Our Houston location is the area’s largest full-service garden center (south of Interstate 10 East to West). Customers are encouraged to drive through the entire 150-acre nursery to choose the plants and trees that best suit their needs. As we’ve grown and expanded, we’ve made industry professional convenience a priority. The roads between each of the twelve lots are wide enough to accommodate a 60 ft. long eighteen-wheeler. We offer delivery services for all of our plants, trees, shrubs, and bulk materials.

Shades of Texas provides the plants, trees, and shrubs, while All American provides sod, soil, mulch, and stone all in one convenient location.
