Cherry Laurel

Prunus caroliniana

Native to east Texas and most used as an evergreen privacy screen in the landscape. The natural shape is oval with an upright branching structure. Can tolerate heat, drought, consistent moisture, and acidic soils. Fragrant white flowers cover the branches as one of the first signs of spring. Small round fruits attract birds in the fall. Few disease problems and considered to be deer resistant.
